One of our loyal fans was kind enough to record some bits of our show at Monkeytown. Thanks, fan!

Here’s a montage of various TG favorites like While We’re Asleep, Surely the Sun Will Explode, and ABC:

Tuesday night: We’ve got a show at our favorite venue in Williamsburg, Monkeytown. This show is especially exciting because we’re playing the entire new album from start to finish (half of it has never been played out before).

Here’s what the L magazine had to say about the show:

Team Genius’ press shot has six band members squished into a closet, each wearing a brightly colored shirt. The first song posted on their MySpace page is basically a Kool-Aid happy Polyphonic Spree singalong with a teddy bear-themed video to match. So we understand if you want to knock them for pandering to cutesy indie-pop, but it’ll be your loss if you write them off at that. Their other material reveals a band with a sophisticated understanding of pop music, honing in on gliding harmonies and bright, boxy choruses. Tonight they’ll debut material from their new album.

We’ll take that as a compliment. Come check it out!

Hey Team Genius Friends. We’ve been pretty quiet lately thanks to all the time we’ve been putting into our new album. At long last it’s almost done and we’re excited to give you a taste. We’ve uploaded “Love and Love Songs” to our MySpace page. Check it out here.

(It also appears we have updated the “Influences” section on MySpace, for those wondering what kind of vibe our sophomore release will have.)

While you’re at it, mark your calendar for our first show in a long time. It’s this Sunday night (already!) at a new venue called Cameo Gallery in Williamsburg. We’re playing at 10, and we plan to play around 6 songs from the new album.

Our Friday show @ Pianos rocked. Thanks to everyone who came out and left it all on the dance floor, especially JoMarie’s grandmother and Tony Frasca. As a bonus, two of the other bands didn’t show up, so the show was free and we got to play an encore. Here’s Chad killing it to Gloria with Scottie behind him on drums:

As of June 6, bandmember Chad (bass, bells, inspiration), is the first married member of Team Genius. After the ceremony, the groom and our bandleader (Drew) were able to find a quiet moment.

Not long ago a web site called Short and Sweet NY had these nice words to say about us:

Team Genius is a pretty badass band who take pop music and make it as eclectic as they can to create great music. With a self-titled album out that is very solid, these guys are worth checking out if you’re into awesome new music.

BREAKING NEWS: Team Genius is back in the studio. Here are a some action shots of Drew and Scottie’s session last night at The Buddy Project in Queens.

Team Genius’s friend Greg Ames has a new book called Buffalo Lockjaw. He’ll be regaling us with a short reading before the rock commences. The excellent musical stylings of Grand Mal will follow.

Night starts at 7:00 so get there at 7:00 (true story! its an early one.) See you there!

Thanks to everyone who came out to our show on Thursday, it was a rocking time. The other bands were particularly kickass this time and we hope to play with them again. But there’s more where that came from. We’re playing AGAIN this month at Public Assembly (formerly Galapagos) in Williamsburg.

It’s an early show, next Saturday night at 8:30.  It’s also Chad’s birthday.

Here’s a photo of our last show at Public Assembly (which was our CD release party about a year ago):
