Recording Progressing

March has been extremely productive for us thus far in our recording endeavors. We continue rehearsing and recording our forthcoming ep (Whiskey Songs) and full length (New York Songs). Should be finishing up in a few weeks.

Team Genius is very proud to announce our association with Paper Garden Records. In my opinion, Paper Garden is the best up and coming label around and is run by some incredibly nice, sincere, smart and hard working people. We could not be happier about this. Details and formalities are still being worked out but our next release will be called “Loud Songs” and will be out in early January. There will be several more releases to follow every couple of months. It’s going to be an exciting year.

We will be celebrating this Saturday night with a show at The Rock Shop. You should definitely come by. We’ll be going on first for this one so get there early (8-ish). Beers on the roof after (it’s still supposed to be very nice weather).

Record Release Show @ Mercury Lounge - August 19

On August 23rd it will be available digitally via all major outlets (even Spotify) and on compact disc via our bandcamp (currently under construction). Between you and me though you can just download it from the link above. I won’t tell.

Also we’ll be giving away free copies at our RECORD RELEASE SHOW/EXTRAVAGANZA!

Quiet Loudly hits the stage before us at 9:30 and then we’re on at 10:30. Ten bucks at the door (but free cd’s).

Rock Shop Show and EP News

On July 7th I imagine most of us will be looking for something to do as our 4th of July hangovers stars to fade and we again get the taste for socializing in our fair city. Luckily we have something rather awesome to offer for that particular situation: a swell rock and roll show at the Rock Shop.

Team Genius will be opening for one of our favorite bands, Project Jenny Project Jan.

In other news, our forthcoming EP will be officially released on August 16th. It’s entitled “Pop Songs”.

South by South Best

We have arrived safely back in Brooklyn physically and mentally drained. We believe it is safe to say Team Genius slayed SxSW.

Super awesome thanks to Brian and Heidi at Paper Garden Records, Charlie from that hippie party, the people behind Beer Camp and sound dude at Emo’s, Susan at Bookwoman and all the awesome bands we shared the stage with!

Also, a million billion love units go out to our extra special stand-in drummer for BRINGING THE HEAT to our Emo’s show! Thank you Koven!

And especially thank you times infinity to Zak Kostura, band manager/photographer/RV waste handler extraordinaire. He got some pretty awesome pics of our end of week shows. Check a few here, and also at Team Genius’ Facebook page.

It’s hip to call it “South by” for short, apparently

South by Southwest is starting and we are PUMPED, people.

After a 28 hour drive, we arrived smelly and exhausted in Austin on Sunday in time to play a rocking set for the lovely crowd at Beer Camp at Emo’s.

Confetti guns were fired; dance moves were busted.

It was a most excellent showing, thanks to everyone who came in and partied.

Since then we’ve done nothing but eat gratuitous amounts of breakfast tacos and BBQ and absorb sun and rock music. MOVING ON.

We have a few more shows to play this week starting tomorrow, when the rest of the band will join Drew, Hudik, Emma and I on our magical RV.

Tomorrow: 2pm, Nomads | 4:40pm, Bookwoman

Friday: 8pm, Uncorked

Hope to see ya’ll (get it get it, we’re in Texas) there!
