Team Genius is playing an excellent show this Friday at midnight in the Lower east Side.
Like our last show, were playing a mix of brand new, old, and really old songs. One is tentatively called Who Farted, so thats fun. Join us. It will rock.
Also, you might remember Pearl & the Beard from our Mercury Lounge show. Well, were playing with them again! They go on at 11:00 and we play at 12:00 sharp. Also performing: this guy.

It’s this coming Tuesday at 8:00 at Pianos. Come check out the melding of some favorite Team Genius cover tunes with a band called Sunroom. In addition to our “duets,” we’ll be trying out a few of the new songs we’ve been agonizing over in recent weeks. They are ready to be consumed by you, oh pack of voracious Team Genius fans.

The lovely bloggers at the Music Street Team covered our Mercury Lounge show last month.
Here’s what they said:
It was great to see the collective Team Genius fill out onto the modest Mercury Lounge stage. … It was quite the spectacle. Even better was the lively keyboardist and the presence of a trumpet. MORE BANDS NEED TRUMPETS. Anyway… the show was great.
Here are the videos, enjoy:
Let’s All Sleep Together:
A new song(!!) called Seven Parts:

The Mercury Lounge show rocked! Giant thanks to all the fans, friends, and randoms (new fans?) who came out and obeyed our humble request to dance their asses off. Excellent showing, guys. WAY TO SELL OUT THE MERCURY LOUNGE!
Our bill-mates Xylos and Pearl & The Beard rocked too.
Also-our friend Tom wrote some jokes especially for the show. Here’s one:
Q: “What did the drummer get on his SATs?”
A: DROOL! (Hey-o…)
Anyway, Team Genius is taking a hiatus from shows in the coming months so we can focus on learning some new material. Till then, keep in touch with us on FACEBOOK!
We’ll be posting some photos from the show soon (photos here by Yvonne Rodriguez).
Team Genius is playing at Mercury Lounge on a SATURDAY NIGHT with some pretty amazing bands. We hope you can make it because, come on, its 10:30 on a weekend night, and its in the city. That’s not a common occurrence.
Also, it’s our first time playing Mercury Lounge and we are planning a rocking set. High kicks. Sweat. Confetti guns designed for outdoor use only. That kinda stuff. AND we’re going to be giving away our CD to anyone who comes. FOR FREE!

This concert is in dedication to my very close friend Damien Perello [RIP 1982-2009]. Damien loved music so much that he flew up from Florida for a concert I curated in October, only a couple weeks prior to his passing.
Proceeds from the concert will be donated in Damien’s memory to St Christopher’s Inn in support of their Drug Rehabilitation program.
St. Christopher’s Inn, a ministry of the Franciscan Friars of the Atonement, is a temporary homeless shelter dedicated to the rehabilitation of men in crisis whom we call “Brothers Christopher.”
Our mission is to offer a continuum of quality health care services that facilitate physical, emotional, and spiritual healing by providing Chemical Dependency Treatment, Primary Health Care, and temporary housing.

–The Deli Magazine
THE LISPS

“Extraordinarily ambitious, engaging, and uplifting live music experience; a celebration of the sheer power of imagination and creativity that – through the meta-narrative of a grunt soldier writing a science-fiction masterpiece - can’t help but pull its own curtain back on the imaginative scope and vision of the show’s creators.”
– Ear Farm
PET GHOST PROJECT

“Justin’s music is layered with rich harmonies and interesting instrumental choices, and resembles everyone from Animal Collective to the Elephant Six bands to the dB’s, while aping none of them.”
–NYC Taper

“It doesn’t take exceptionally high IQs to realize the power of bouncy synths and endless falsettos, but it helps.” - CMJ
